A travel guide for visiting the Historic Portuguese Center of Macau. Macau (also spelled Macao) was a colony of Portugal from 1557 from 1999 and has a very interesting mix of Asian and European architectures. The Center of the old city is Senado Square which has a pedestrianized street that leads to the Ruins of St. Paul’s Cathedral. Macau derived it’s name from the A-Ma Temple, originally built in 1448 and still standing today.
