Everything you need to know about Southern California Theme Park reopenings. Knott’s Berry Farm, Disneyland, Legoland, Seaworld, San Diego Zoo, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Six Flags Magic Mountain will all be open in some capacity this month! No rides or indoor shows, but still plenty of fun to be had!
– Knott’s Berry Farm
Boysenberry Festival:
Starts on March 5 and continues through May 2. Initially weekends but eventually daily.
$45 for adults includes admission and 5 food tastings
80 Boysenberry-infused food and drink items
Almost the entire park is open to explore, with wandering entertainment.
– Disneyland
Starting on March 18 – Disney California Adventure is reopening for “A Touch of Disney”
$75 gets you admission, $25 of food credit, and parking.
Most of DCA will be open to stroll through, and Buena Vista Street will be part of the now “ticketed” experience. In particular if you want to eat at Carthay Circle, you’ll need a ticket. Reservations for Carthay Circle and Lamplight Lounge open on March 11 — so mark your calendar now!
In addition to the food, they’ll be bringing back characters roaming the park… the usual ones in Cars Land and Pixar Pier. But also Mickey and Friends on Buena Vista Street.
Downtown Disney remains open for free admission — though you have to pay for parking. They’ve recently opened the “Star Wars Trading Post” at the former Rain Forest Cafe… though waits can get in can be up to 7 hours!
Let’s head down to San Diego, before we head up to Hollywood
– Legoland California
Opening on March 5 for “Build and Play Days”
$20-30
Park is open to explore, including the playgrounds,
Special entertainment (Ventriloquist, Brass Band, and dance party)
Character meet and greet
Some restaurants — in particular the Granny Apple Fries.
This is NOT a food fair, you might want to have lunch before you go
And of course the Lego Store with the biggest collection of legos on the west coast of the USA.
Hours are short — 10am to 4pm
– Seaworld San Diego
Currently open. Operating as an outdoor zoo / aquarium.
Tickets start at $60. You can get admission for the rest of the year for $95. Parking will cost you $25.
Outdoor Animal exhibits are open: Penguins, Bat Rays, Flamingos and more.
Shows (aka Presentations) open: Dolphin, Sea Lion and Orca Encounter
Rides are closed.. And so are the “indoor” aquariums
Seven Seas Food Festival starting Mar 5 to May 2.
25 food items, 75 craft beers, and 25 cocktails.
$60 for a 10 tasting lanyard — admission not included.
Also enjoy a new Polynesian dance show.
– San Diego Zoo & Wild Animal Park
$62 Admission for both the Zoo and Wild Animal Park
– Universal Studios Hollywood –
Universal is planning their first food festival- Taste of Universal
Admission is $44-49
Upper Lot only will be open for the event, including Springfield and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Universal City Walk remains open for free admission. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Sweets & Treats is now open at Universal CityWalk for a limited time 12-8pm daily for butter beer. And Free Self Parking!
– Six Flags Magic Mountain
Drive-Thru Cruis’n The Park Car Show
Weekends now through Mar 14.
$50 per vehicle (up to 4 people). 30-minute drive around the park guided by the specially designed Cruis’n the Park app narrated by the CEO of West Coast Customs.
Six flags has hinted that they will be opening “with rides” this spring.
